My hope is that this post opens up your brain to different strategies to test your app ideas and generate buzz around an eventual launch. Building an app is such an investment and knowing if there is demand for it can be difficult to nail down. This strategy can both evaluate your app idea and generate a healthy audience for launch. The idea is to build a mini app, one that targets the same users as your big idea app, but has just a feature or two. You would market this app, somewhat aggressively, and see what kind of audience you could build. Product validation without committing the resources (yet) to building the 'real' app. Interesting. This type of strategy might save you 7 months of development on an app that isn't going anywhere.
